View on GRAFFITI !!!

Today I get some ideas about street art - "Graffiti". The documentary talked about different people's ideas about graffiti. Some like it, on the other hand, some don't. I have seen it a lot on the walls, subway, freeway... but I don't know really what that is and how they make it. After watching the documentary and reading some stuffs on the internet, I get to know graffiti is also a type of art.
This is some info I want to share with my classmates ^.^... Graffiti has existed since ancient times. In modern times, paint, particularly spray paint, and marker pens have become the most commonly used graffiti materials. In most countries, marking or painting property without the property owner's consent is considered defacement and vandalism, which is a punishable crime. And they think it makes the street dirty and ugly in some ways. However, some really love this street art.
Graffiti expresses social and political messages and a whole genre of artistic expression. The artists may also expresses their feelings and their own lives on the art.
Nowadays, Graffiti is often seen as having become intertwined with hip hop culture and the myriad international styles derived from New York City Subway graffiti. Some of the most common styles of graffiti have their own names. A "tag" is the most basic writing of an artist's name, it is simply a handstyle. Through the painting, we can somehow see the artists' lives and thoughts.
It is a cool art I have ever seen. kkk

  5. Hi Phuc, thanks for your blog post!

Yes, "modern" graffiti writing is a few decades old... but as you say, it's actually existed for a long time.

Do you see a connection to the cave painting we talked about on Monday?

    Happy Saturday!
